The project "Discovery within a week" has been held at the Skolkovo International Gymnasium. Already in the third lesson, a fifth-graded girl discovered a new variable star. The star, which changes its brightness approximately twice, was found on new images from a 51-cm telescope T31 in Australia. It was an eclipsing double star of the Algol type with a period of 0.442 days (10.6 hours). The new variable star is situated at the constellation of Hydra, near the border with the Centaur. Our team congratulate the guys from Skolkovo for the first discovery and wish them not to stop there.
