Becoming real astronomers
This week was the penultimate week of Discovery club for the students at Sanders School. They are now becoming real astronomers. The teacher is really impressed at their progress. The students understand the coordinate system and are extremely confident using them to begin reporting their possible discoveries. They are able to use the software to see if there are any possible variable stars in the images. The students are now able to search the online catalogues to see if their star has been discovered already. They can download more information from the Catalina Sky Survey to verify their star as a variable. There has been a lot of disappointment but the students are hopeful for a discovery in the final week.
